Identifying strengths and weaknesses of teaching

This semester, in my F500 class (Teaching with Technology), we've decided to blog and discuss our teaching strengths and weaknesses. One of the doctoral students, Randa Fathy, established a list of competencies for us to use to evaluate our own skills in the W200 course we all teach.  My evaluation is below:
My evaluation shows that areas I'd like to work on include Feedback, Presentations, Classroom Discussions, Questioning, and Networking and partnering. I hope to improve on my networking with other teacher educators to share best practices. By creating and maintaining this blog, this is a great first step. I also want to read and incorporate more resources from Tech & Learning, as well as the ISTE website and other PLN resources.

Also, discussions are always important and I need to ensure that the questions being posed for each discussion are worded strongly enough to elicit interesting responses and not just the perfunctory responses that one typically receives in introductory courses; I really want my students to think about their own teaching and how technology relates to this.

Finally, it's important for our presentations to contain less text on the screen. Right now, many of our PowerPoints contain a lot of text for students to read. Perhaps this is due to a lack of a textbook and so we want to communicate strong levels of content. However, this should be done through the actual lectures or discussions as opposed to through text. We could also use more infographics or images to provide our content.
